Wii - Format System Memory to restore default factory setting

I installed Home Brew Channel and other IOS which are failed. Now I do not want Home Brew Channel anymore.

I just want to rest my Wii to factory default setting. I formatted my System Memory; it did clear Home Brew Channel. Did that clear all IOSs? How can I make sure that?

By the way, where is IOS stored (System Memory or somewhere else)? Thank in advance...

The IOS files are stored using blocks (they are sort of like hidden channels).
Formatting your wii system memory removes all except IOS files.

There is only the Custom IOS used for homebrew all other IOS files are used by games/system so leaving just the 1 on there won't hurt anything and doesn't make make much difference to the space.

Removing the CIOS using AnyTitleDeleter will result in a bricked wii so it's best to just leave it on there.

Per your comment, my understanding is that Wii's IOS are different than HomeBrewChannel's IOS. Unless installing of some IOS override Wii's IOS (in that case, system will crash).  Am I right?

Are IOS version and Wii menu version same (such as 3.2, 3.4) or totally different?

IOS files are more like data files used by games, channels and wii system menu.
There are many different IOSs installed on a wii and there are updated versions of some IOSs. Its a little complicated.
I don't think the homebrew channel uses a custom IOS I think it configures its self to use an already installed IOS. Other homebrew applications which rely on an IOS not being updated by Nintendo use a custom IOS which doesn't get modified. The custom IOS has to be installed seperately before the homebrew will work.
