p.s. my xbox use to connect to my computer at home to a different internet connection could this be the proberlem and would have to delete some info of my xbox
If you are now connecting to a router instead of connecting to a computer using ICS you will need to set your XBOX to match the correct IP/DNS. The router may be setup for DHCP which you can try. Otherwise you will need to log into the router (or look at your dad's PC) and find out what DNS server he is pointing to. "ipconfig /all" from a DOS prompt.
If DHCP is not enabled, then you will need to manually enter an IP address that does not conflict with one there, and manually input a correct DNS Server. You may try 4.2.2.1 as a DNS server just to get you going.
okay i have some updated info on the problem when i was searching for the ip gateway and dns ect. by click properties on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) there is no information in any of the bars isnt that abit wierd
