How many tcp/ip connections a application server can handled?

We are development a tournament system for our games and we want to balance the server connections.
We want to know how many current connection a server can handled on linux platform vrs windows platform.

For example for a bandwidth of 1 megabyte.

With this information we will create M application Server instances for N clients to balance the client connections in differents server machines.

And what is the best way to communicate all this application servers (for example: through the database, a service, a server manager, etc)Start Free Trial
