Runescape Java Applet needed

Hi!
I was playing a game called Runescape, recently I decided to format my hard drive on my WinXp computer, after I installed it again, the Java Plug-in needed to play the game was missing, I tried to download the program by clicking install in the pop up window, but my computer took me to the Microsoft Webpage and said I need to update my Windows. I also tried to download the program from www.java.sun.com but that did not work either. Does the Java plug-in exist on the WinXp CD, or can someone advise me for a more suitable web site to download this program?

Go to:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html

Next:
Download J2SE v 1.4.1_03

Choose OS, ie,  Windows(US English Only)

Install it (8mb).
Play runescape.
