*Completely uninstall DiabloII
*Manually download the patch
*Install DiabloII
*Run disk defragmentation.

Question
Cannot connect to Battle.net in Diablo II Lord of Destruction
I cannot connect to Battle.net with Diablo 2 LOD (any realm). I receive either of the following two messages:
"You were disconnected from Battle.Net. Please reconnect."
"Unable to connect to Battle.Net."
Here are the facts.
1. I can telnet onto Battle.net, so my connection (cable at home, T3 at work) is fine.
2. I can connect to Battle.net using Starcraft.
3. I have tried to connect to Battle.net with D2 LOD on two separate computers with the same result.
4. I am not behind any firewall or router.
5. I have tried all 6 steps here: http://www.blizzard.com/su
6. I have gone through http://www.blizzard.com/su
7. I was able to update from v1.07 to 1.09d when I tried to connect to Battle.net the first time.
8. Connection is aborted right after "accessing account" or "checking version"

Yah sometimes manually downloading the patch from blizzards site will help here, instead of connecting to b.net servers to do it.
You haven't been tagged by b.net for a suspicious cause of hacking have you?
It can be the same CD-key as long as you only play at one place at a time, IE. you only play at home, and not work.

This is true as long as it's a good CD Key. To save money some people do a second install with their origanal Diablo CD and use a key generator. Then they install a second (bought) copy of LOD thinking that this will overwrite the first key and they will be ok. But it doesn't work and you get this exact problem. Both CD keys have to be unique originals. Teedog, this is why I asked for more details of the problem.
I don't think it's a tagging issue. Tagged players can still access BNet, they are just restricted to what games they can join. And you are downloading the 09 patch, so it's not a version issue.
I agree with GLBirch and LunDrog.
Tagged players CAN play games, but are limited. They can't play private games. Meaning they can't join any games with passwords. They can only play games that have no password. If you try to join a game that has a password you will get a error about not being able to connect.
As for your error. I think you have been banned. You should try contacting blizzard. Go to their home website and send them an e-mail.
You should try making a new account and if you still can't make a account and you know for a fact that you weren't cheating in any way, then you should argue with Blizzard.
If you can get online with another account, then go to the Technical support chat channel and ask a moderator about this. They should be abled to help you around the times of 6-10pm.

Is this a new install? And is it a unique install for BOTH CD keys? If you are using CD key created by a key generator you will have this problem.
