Processor recommened for gaming and an explanation?

Hi there,

trying to find the recommended processor for gaming, i want to spend money on a good one... but there are so many options..

I am currently looking at Intel Core QUAD / DUO - difference?

Some with L2 cache upwards of 6mb

and speed 3000 Ghz...

I have seen one ... like this

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00GHZ FSB1333 4MB Box 775

it currenly is going quite cheap ... but my cocerns are 4mb of l2 cache, is this sufficient..??

And its only a duo (as opposed to quad, extreme), and the FSB is 1333... although some processors are 800 .... obviously need to choose the correct motherboard too..

Any advice or help would be really appreciated on the matter..

My intented OS is going to be Vista... although i am concerned weather to go for 32bit or 64 bit... i remember vista having some issues with drivers not being avaibale for 64 bit.... I am unsure if this has been solved?
