Unable to connect to play online using router

I am using the TrueMobile 2300 wireless router and the CA Personal Firewall and I'm trying to play Rise of Nations online. The problem is, I can connect to the online server; however, I can't connect to play (neither join nor host) any online games. I have the same problem with nearly any game I try to play online, such as StarCraft. I tried following this tutorial precisely but it didn't work out: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dell/TrueMobile-2300/Rise_of_Nations.htm
