these cheats will only work on red and blue (not yellow)

Duplicate items

firstly you need a pokèmon with fly and a pokèmon with surf

put the item you want to duplicate in to the 5th* slot on your items list

Then fly to viridan city and talk to the man that shows you how to catch a pokèmon make sure he shows u how to catch one.

next fly to the fire gym

walk right to the edge of the beach and use your pokèmon to surf up and down the beach (MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PUSH RIGHT OR LEFT AFTER SURFING)
soon a pokèmon called "missingno." or a really stuffed up name will appear (it will take a while to load)
DO NOT CATCH THIS POKEMON!!!! DOING SO WILL STUFF YOUR GAME FOREVER!
beat this pokèmon then walk back on to dry land check your items list and beside that item you will have a weird symbol and a number this means you have more than 100 of that item
(note you cannot duplicate items like the bycycle and the s.s.ticket)
(dont forget to put one of the item in the computer incase you  run out)
* if the 5th slot doesnt work try the 6th slot
duplicate pokèmon

for this cheat to work you need two game boys tow copys of pokèmon and a link cable (both copys of pokèmon must be able to trade (eg you must have a pokèdex on both copys)
(note this cheats does not work with emulators)


firsty we will name the two gameboys

GAMEBOY A: this is the gameboy that has the pokèmon you want to duplicate.
GAMEBOY B: this will be the game boy you will copy the game to.

ok catch a worthless pokèmon on "B" goto a pokèmon center and put all your pokèmon away and get out the one worthless pokèmon. save the game

now get out the pokèmon ready to trade with "B" on "A"
save the game

start a link game and enter the trading center

trade the worthless pokèmon with the good pokèmon

after the trade animation compleates and the waiting... screen apears get ready to turn gameboy "A" off
as soon as the screen goes blank turn off the game boy (dont even wait half a second doing so will wreck your save

turn off game boy "B" while its waiting for "A" at the trade screen

now "B" has a perfect copy of the pokèmon from gameboy "A"

Adjusted points from 150 to 200

There are a few things in this section. There are best pokemon for
different points in the game, and here is the list of them.

Point No. 1: Before you face Brock.
1. Wartortle-Good defense, fairly powerful.
2. Pidgey-Will become formidable.
3. Nidoran-Good attack power when he evolves.
4. Kakuna/Metapod-High defense, will become powerful fighters.

Point No. 2: After you beat Misty, at Bill's house.
1. Wartortle-All around powerful. Learns good water attacks.
2. Pidgeotto-Another all around pokemon. Good to have to back up Wartortle.

3. Nidorino-High attack power, learns a few good attacks too.
4. Beedrill/Butterfree-One is a strong fighter, the other is a good psychic
pokemon.
5. Geodude-High defense, learns good rock/ground attacks.
6. Clefairy-Can learn many TMs, learns strange attacks. Powerful when it
evolves into Clefable.

Point No. 3: After you beat Lt. Surge, in the field where you fight
Drowzees.
1. Blastoise-High defense, will learn strongest water attack.
2. Pidgeotto-Will have gotten even stronger.
3. Nidorino-High attack power and HP.
4. Graveller-High attack/defense.
5. Gyarados-All out great pokemon.
6. Pikachu-Good electric attacks.

Point No. 4: When you beat Erika.
1. Blastoise-Higher defense, good attack power, great attacks.
2. Pidgeot-Well rounded, has useful moves.
3. Graveller-Another well rounded pokemon.
4. Gyarados-Very high attack power.
5. Nidoking-Chances are it learned all its attacks. If not, keep it a
Nidorino.
6. Pikachu-Carries along great electric attacks like thunder.

Point No. 5: At top of Silph Co. Building.
1. Blastoise-Can use ice beam and hyper beam, from celadon.
2. Pidgeot-Great in all categories.
3. Golem-Super defense, can learn rock slide or earthquake.
4. Gyarados-Learns hydro pump and hyper beam, 2 great attacks.
5. Raichu-Even stronger than pikachu, still weak defense though.
6. Dratini-Become extremely powerful.

Point No. 6: After beating Giovanni.
1. Blastoise-Should have blizzard or ice beam, hydro pump, hyper beam.
2. Zapdos-High attack, learns thunder.
3. Golem-Should have earthquake and other strong moves.
4. Gyarados-You can teach it blizzard or ice beam to accompany its hyper
beam and hydro pump. Surf is another choice.
5. Dragonair-Can learn a variety of powerful moves.
6. Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon-All good in their categories
(water/electric/fire)

Point No. 7: Endgame.
1. Blastoise-Has very high defense, great attack and strong moves.
2. Zapdos-Will fry water pokemon will relative ease.
3. Gyarados-Very high attack, a formidable opponent.
4. Golem-Very strong defense like Blastoise.
5. Dragonite-Highest attack in the game, learns hyper beam.
6. Alakazam-Powerful psychic pokemon, can learn hyper beam and psywave.

My Pokemon Currently:
1. L. 100 Blastoise-Bite, hydro pump, hyper beam, ice beam. Cornerstone of
my team.
2. L. 89 Gyarados-Bite, hydro pump, hyper beam, surf. Best attack, high
speed.
3. L. 64 Alakazam-Psychic, hyper beam, psybeam, recover. Psychic attacker,
softens up enemy,
4. L. 72 Charizard-Flamethrower, cut, fire spin, hyper beam. Good attacker,
good against grass.
5. L. 56 Zapdos-Thunder, fly, thundershock, drill peck. Has FLY and weakens
water pokemon.
6. L. 54 Cloyster-Aurora beam, surf, clamp, spike cannon. Very high
defense, good ice/water attacks, I am still advancing him.

3. Advice Throughout the Game

Starting Out:
At the starting places in the game, don't waste your pokeballs! Chances
are, you won't have much money near the beginning of the game. Buy a half
dozen pokeballs, and make them last. Catch stuff that will be good for a
long time, like a geodude, pidgey, pikachu, or nidoran. You won't be using
spearows or rattatas farther into the game, so there really is no point in
catching them unless you want to have a better pokedex rating. I have found
that buying 3 to 6 pokeballs at Viridian City can last me up to the area
around Cerulean City. With the money left over, buy potions and a few
antidotes. Believe me, there are never enough potions to go around. With
the stuff you do catch, advance them by starting them in a battle, then
switching to a stronger pokemon. When they are strong enough to fight for
themselves, let them while keeping their HP high with potions.

Middle:
The middle of the game is around when you come across the Team Rocket HQ.
By now, the pokemon you chose at the beginning of the game will be their
final evolution. You may have picked up a few other great pokemon, or
traded for some too. Trainers are fairly common now, so you should have
enough money to do things. Since you have come to the Celadon Department
Store, you will now have a variety of new TMs. It is essential that any new
pokemon you catch you don't teach them any TMs! Wait till they learn all
their moves. They may learn that move you were going to teach them, or
something stronger. For instance, don't get a Gyarados and win the hyper
beam TM then teach Hyper Beam to your Gyarados. It will learn that move
eventually, so there is no point in wasting a TM on it. Around the middle
of the game, some pretty good pokemon will come up and show themselves. You
can catch them, but remember that there will always be better pokemon
around. Keep ones that you know will always be powerful, like Abra/Kadabra,
which evolves into Alakazam, or Gyarados.

End:
You will have seen almost all the species of pokemon. Your initial pokemon
will probably be pretty strong, and any others you have with it. At the end
of the game, money should be coming out of your ears, since you can
multiply items then sell them with the item multiplication code (well known
by now). With this money, you can buy stuff like HP ups, carbos, protein,
iron, and calcium. This will further increase a pokemon's statistics. Since
it is the end of the game, and you will be facing the Elite Four, you can
spend a lot of your money on these type of things. Also, you should have a
powerful team of pokemon that is varied. Good choices are; Gyarados, for
its high attack power, Golem, for its high defense, and Moltres, for all
around power. But make sure your team is not mostly the same type. A team
like this:
Blastoise, Starmie, Articuno, Lapras, Slowbro, Dewgong
may be strong, but a Venusaur, Raichu, Zapdos, Pidgeot, Vileplume, Alakazam
team will destroy it, since the latter team has 4 electric or grass
pokemon. Consider making a team consisting of 2 pokemon high in attack, 1
pokemon high in defense, 1 pokemon high in speed, 1 balanced pokemon, and 1
pokemon high in special (probably psychic-type).

After End:
With the appearance of the unknown dungeon and Mewtwo, you will have  some
new choices. Mewtwo is a good psychic pokemon, but since he is caught at
level 70, he will not have as high a special as an Alakazam raised from an
early level. The unknown dungeon is a good place to advance your pokemon
around level 50, and it houses many second evolution pokemon, waiting for
you to catch them. Even though pokemon are stronger when raised by hand
(not by rare candies I might add) sometimes it is not worth advancing
pokemon all those levels if they aren't going to be in your final team.

-=HOW TO GET ALL THREE STARTING POKIMON=-

First, get a friend who has a new game pack. Example, lets
say you picked Bulbasaur, who of course is now a Venusaur
with your training skill. Your friend starts a new game and
picks a Squirtle and goes to the nearest Pokimon center and
trades it to you. He/She repeats this. Starting a new game
he picks a Charmander and again trades it to you. He/She
repeats this again. Now he/she starts another new game and
picks whatever you picked, in this case Bulbasaur, you trade
him/her back one Squirtle and Charmander. He/She now has all
3 Starting Pokimon and so do you. The main thing is what you
originally picked, so if you picked Squirtle, make 2 copies
of Bulbasaur and Charmander, and have your friend pick
Squirtle. If you picked Charmander, make 2 copies of
Squirtle and Bulbasaur, and have your friend pick Charmander.

-=EEVEE EVOLVING=-

Eevee can only be gotten once, and you can only change it
into one thing, so you would have to have 2 other friends
who pick different paths, right? Wrong. Copy your Eevee
3 times ( Info on this forthcoming ) with a friend and
have him trade you them back. You now have 4 Eevees. I
recommend not building them up before you copy them, since
you will lose some cool moves when you use stones on them.
You now have a Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, anmd Flareon to
add to your battle squad. Enjoy.

-=TRAINING WEAK POKIMON=-

Sometimes you will receive a Level 5 or lower Pokimon.
Whenever you try and fight Level 25 or so Pokimon yours
always faints so it cannot gain EXP points. First, select
the weak Pokimon as your main Pokimon, once you run into
a wild Pokimon simply switch to a stron one on your first
turn.  Defeat the enemy Pokimon and your strong and weak
Pokimon will splits the EXP points. It will take awhile,
but soon your Level 5 will turn into a Level 20 and be
able to defend itself.

-=HIDDEN MACHINES ARE PERMANENT=-

I didn't know this at the time, but once a Pokimon learns
a Hidden Machine ability, it cannot be deleted. I didn't
want my Pokimon to be stuck with CUT as one of their
attacks so I kept those first Pokimon for CUT and got a
new version of the same Pokimon with only fighting moves.
I now will only teach Hidden Machines to Pokimon which I
have already 'messed' up with the Hidden Machines.

-=TECHNICAL MACHINES VS. LEARNING=-

When a Pokimon learns a move, it will be more powerful
than the Technical Machine version of that move. You
can decide if you can wait for a more powerful attack,
or get it right now. The good thing about Technical
Machines is to teach Pokimon moves they will never learn.

-=CELADON COINS=-

As many know, you can get up to 50 free coins from the
various slot players, but here is a way to get almost
200 more. Walk around inside the Game Corner pressing
A, you will find anywhere from packs of 10 to 100 coins.
They are located on the tiles inside the Game Corner.
Soon, you will find them all since they do not reappear.

-=DO NOT USE THE STONES INSTANTLY=-

I made this mistake and deeply regret it. Throughout the
game you can find 3 or 4 Moonstones. At Celadon City,
you can buy the other stones. However, do not use these
stones on your Pokimon until they have reached their
'maturity' level. The Pokimon 'maturity' level is when
the Pokimon reaches the level in which it will not learn
any new moves. Example- You have a Pikachu that is Level
20, therefore it still has 3 moves to learn. If you turn
it into a Raichu, it will never learn those 3 moves. So
wait until it reaches its 'maturity' level, which happens
to be Level 43, to turn it into a Raichu. Here is a list
of the Pokimon that fall prey to this effect and their
'maturity' levels. Once the below Pokimon reaches the
below level, than transform it into its more powerful
Evolution using the stone.

till your Shellder gets to Level 50, to evolve it and
get ICE BEAM, instead of evolving it at 40 to get SPIKE
CANNON when it reaches Level 50.

$ - Note: If Exeggcute is evolved into Exeggutor, it will
learn STOMP instead of LEECH SEED at Level 28, but will
not learn any other moves after or before that. Therefore,
you can wait till your Exeggcute gets to Level 28, to
evolve it and get LEECH SEED, instead of evolving it at
27 to get STOMP when it reaches Level 28.

Boss Tactics
Here are your best bets for beating the Pokemon Gym Leaders:


Brock: Use water or grass Pokemon against this rock trainer.
Misty: Use grass pokemon or electric to defeat this gym leader.
Leiutenant Surge: use a rock or ground pokemon and he's toast.
Erika: Use fire pokemon or flight against this plant lover and shatter her dreams of fighting you again.
Sabrina: Use bug or ghost against this psychomaniac and she is a goner.
Koga: This poison pokemon lover will be deafeted easily by using psy pokemon.
Blaine: This fire trainer will use fire pokemon against you so you can use water or ice.
Final boss: Giovanni, the team rocket leader, is the final gym leader - use water, ice, plant and he's out of there (and talk to him again and he says something to you).

Celadon City Slot Tip
All of the slot machines have different odds, which change every time. Play each machine 4 times, and if it hits 2 or more, then stick with that one, because it's probably hot.

If the slow machine forces you really close to a 777 or Bar Bar Bar it will probably give you one or the other soon.

Duplicate Items
To get 99 of any item, first put the item you want to multiply in the sixth item slot. Now use FLY and go to Viridian City. Talk to the old man almost all the way north of the town. When he asks if you are in a hurry, say no and watch him catch a weedle.

Right after that, fly to Fuchsia city. Make your way south and, when you you reach the water's edge, use SURF and make your way to Seafoam island.

When you get to seafoam island, swim up and down the beach until you run into a Pokemon called "M" (Missingno.) Once you see him, kill him or run away. DO NOT CATCH HIM! After that, you should have multiple copies of your sixth item!

Easy Level Gain
To easily gain experience, simply switch the Pokimon you want to train with the top Pokimon on your list. When you go into battle the Pokimon will pop out. You can then switch to another Pokimon. Once you win the battle the beginning Pokimon and the fighting Pokimon will both gain experience points.

Extra Damage
While fighting, select your desired attack. When it says you are going to use that attack (eg. "Venusaur used Razor Leaf"), hold down the A button until your opponent's life stops draining. If your timing was right you'll do more damage than usual.

Level 100+ Pokemon
Follow these instructions to catch pokemon with really high levels.


Talk to the old man in Viridian City who shows you how to catch pokemon.
Fly directly to Cinnabar Island.
Put your strongest pokemon on your team.
You might want to save now.
Surf on the shore where the land touches water.
Keep Surfing until you run into one of these strong pokemon.
These pokemon are well above level 100. Unfortunately, they will revert back to Level 100 if they gain any experience points. Rare Candy is the only thing that raises their level. They can be used in a two-player battle without losing their level, so have fun liquidating your friends!

1. First, with the one game, start a new game and choose Charmander. Then go to the fields and capture 3

In Celedon City go to the hotel in the bottom right corner and go inside. Face where the computer would be in a

At a Pok&#233;mart, select buy, then select Pok&#233;balls, set the quantity to 3 and no money will be taken. You can do this

Get Eevee
In Celedon City, go behind the mansion and find the secret door. Once you're inside, go up the stairs and get the

Flareon, and a water stone will give you a Vaporeon.

Battle Safari Zone Pok&#233;mon
If you want to battle! Pok&#233;mon from the Safari Zone, first go to the Safari Zone and pick the area with the rare
Pok&#233;mon you would like to catch. Wait for time to run out. Exit the building and fly to Cinnabar Island. DON'T battle
any other Pok&#233;mon. On the island, go to the east side. Use surf. Go up and down that side, and only that side of
the island. You will encounter Pok&#233;mon from the Safari Zone.

This code is sorta like the "Better Chance to Catch Pok&#233;mon" code but it's for attack. Just hold the A button while

Clone Pok&#233;mon
You need a friend for this. Trade the Pok&#233;mon to be cloned and have you friend get a Pok&#233;mon they dont care
about. Trade them, and make sure the person getting the bad Pok&#233;mon can see the other's screen. When the
reciever of the good Pok&#233;mon's screen says "waiting", get ready to shut the other one off. When waiting
disapears, turn off the Game Boy that's getting the bad Pok&#233;mon. When the other one says trade completed, turn
that one off too. When you turn the games back on, you should both have the Pok&#233;mon.

Celadon City Slot Tip
All of the slot machines have different odds, which change every time. Play each machine 4 times, and if it hits 2
or more, then stick with that one, because it's probably hot. If the slow machine forces you really close to a 777 or

Cut Down Grassy Areas
Once you get the HM "cut", your Pok&#233;mon can cut down grassy areas. Use "cut" and it will cut a two by two area.

Easy Level Gain
To easily gain experience, simply switch the Pok&#233;mon you want to train with the top Pok&#233;mon on your list. When

beginning Pok&#233;mon and the fighting Pok&#233;mon will both gain experience points.

Get Mewtwo
After you have gotten all eight of your badges you need to go beat the Pok&#233;mon league. The credits will roll, then
the menu pops up again. DO NOT RESET THE GAME!!!! Go to Cerulean City, then go north to the brige where
you faced 5 trainers before the path to Bill's house. Turn left and there will be a large area of water. Surf until you
get to a cave. You will find Mewtwo in that cave.

Get Omanyte, Aerodactyal and Kabuto
To get Aerodactyal and Omanyte or Kabuto you must first collect two out of three items. In Mt. Moon, before the exit, there is a guy you have to fight. If you when, you get the choice of two fossils. The one on the left is the Dome Fossil, which gives you Kabuto. The one on the right is the Helix Fossil, which gives you Omanyte. Go back to Pewter City, and cut the bush near the Museum. Go through the back door and speak to the guy near the sphere. He'll give you Old Amber, which gives you Aerodactyal. To get these extinct Pok&#233;mon, you most beat Koga in
Fushcia City and get HM05 in Safari's Zone's secret house. HM05 teaches Surf, in which you can ride a water Pok&#233;mon. Go back to Pallet after getting HM05 and the soul badge. Surf down the water way south of pallet until you reach Cinnibar Island. Enter the building to the left of the Pok&#233;mon center. Proceed right until you reach the last door. Enter the door and speak to the man at the top. Give him either the Helix fossil, Dome Fossil or Old Amber. Leave, re-enter and he'll give you the corresponding Pok&#233;mon.

Get Rapidash
First off, there are no wild Rapidash. None. Zilch. Zip. To get a Rapidash you must get a Ponyta from the abandoned warehouse in Cinnabar Island and then raise it to level 40. At that time it will start to evolve into the fastest pok&#233;mon of the world. Rapidash!

Hidden Pok&#233;mon
There are three pok&#233;mon that are hidden in the game. The pok&#233;mon are Zapdos, Mortles, and Artincuno.

Zapdos can be found in the Power Plant by Cerulean City. Go on route 9, the area near the Rock Tunnel which you needed Flash for. Make sure you have the SURF abilty. Once you have surf go to the area where Route 9 ends. Go to the water and use surf. Keep going down and you'll see an opening where the rocks brek to open land, go on that and you'll see a big building. Go in there a keep walking around untill you see a bird pok&#233;mon standing there. Save your game and then fight the bird. Capture it, then its on too Fuchsia City!

If you have fly go to the Fuchsia City gate on the left. You'll see a few little jumpable cliffs. Go to the edge of the water and use surf. Keep going left and you should see some islands. Go in the cave on the islands. You must have strength to get this next bird. Once in the cave find you way through the cave pushing all the rocks down the holes. This is important because you need to stop the current flow down below in the cave. Once you find you way to another bird pok&#233;mon, do the same as before. This is going to be Articuno.

The final pok&#233;mon is Moltres, who an be found once you have all eight badges. After you have all the badges go to Victory Road at the Pok&#233;mon League. Make you way through the cave and you should see another bird pok&#233;mon. Repeat the same steps as you did for the other pok&#233;mon. NOTE: These pok&#233;mon aren't hard to see. They just stand there waiting. Be sure to save before you fight them as they only appear once in the game.

To get your Diploma in the game...complete your pokedex getting all 150 entries, then go to the Game Freak Building and talk to the guy on the second floor (The guy that's not on a computer), if you completed your pokedex, he will give you your diploma.

99 of Any Item
To get 99 of any item, first put the item you want to multiply in the sixth item slot. Now use FLY and go to Viridian City. Talk to the old man almost all the way north of the town. When he asks if you are in a hurry, say no and watch him catch a weedle. Right after that, fly to Fuchsia city. Make your way south and, when you you reach the water's edge, use SURF and make your way to Seafoam island.

When you get to seafoam island, swim up and down the beach until you run into a Pokemon called "M" (a glitch like Missingno.) Once you see him, kill him or run away. DO NOT CATCH HIM! After that, you should have 99 of your sixth item!

Get MissingNo.
Warning! Catch missingno in the red version may delete your old game and prevent you from saving any other games.

To get MissingNo (a glitch) go to Cinnabar Island and go into the Pokimon Research Labratory and trade with anyone in the first room. Then leave the Lab and go to the EAST of Cinnabar Island and surf up and down on the part where the land meets the water. Eventually the battle screen will come up and the screen goes black for about 5 seconds.

Once you find him I suggest you use a Level 30 to 40 Pokemon. This is because Missing No., even at Lv. 80, has a VERY low defense rating. So get him down pretty low. Even at low he is still extremely difficult to catch. So next get a Pokemon that knows a sleep move and put him to sleep. Follow this up with a couple Ultra Balls and you should have him.

NOTE: Catching MissingNo. may cause minor glitches. Also note that if he evolves (i.e., by receiving a Rare Candy) he will turn into a Khangiskahn.

Level 100+ Pokemon


Follow these instructions to catch pokemon with really high levels.


Talk to the old man in Viridian City who shows you how to catch pokemon.
Fly directly to Cinnabar Island.
Put your strongest pokemon on your team.
You might want to save now.
Surf on the shore where the land touches water.
Keep Surfing until you run into one of these strong pokemon.
These pokemon are well above level 100. Unfortunately, they will revert back to Level 100 if they gain any experience points. Rare Candy is the only thing that raises their level. They can be used in a two-player battle without losing their level, so have fun liquidating your friends!

NOTE: This is a bug in the game. It will not work in newer versions of Pokemon and may crash your game if you try it.
