Browse All TopicsWindows XP on my PC was restarting after trying to shut it down. To fix the problem, I changed "PME Event Wake Up" on the BIOS from enabled to disabled. After that, XP is behaving normally again. My question is: what is "PME Event Wake Up"? and also: why do you think that disabling it solved the problem?

PME Event Wake Up is Power Management Event wakeup, which is used to wake up the system from suspend mode by pressing a key or moving a mouse. It must have interrupted the shutdown sequence by looking for certain events, mistakingly thinking that you wanted to do something else.
