The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

One half of hyper threading P4 CPU is running at nealry 100% constantly.

I have searched extensively to no avail - I have a relatively new HP ML150G2 Server with a HT P4 CPU. Looking at the Performance Task Manager shows the left half of the CPU running constantly near 100%. The right-side looks normal - idling at a few percent during idle times.

Looking "CPU Usage" total on the very left averages around 60%.
Looking at the processes tab - the only thing out of the ordinary is the "System" process running at an average of 30% (System Idle Process averages at 70%)

(It makes sense that since half of the CPU is running close to 100% that the total XPU usage would be around 50% - But I'm confused as to why System seems to be running at 30% in the processes tab with no other process using much, yet on the Performance Tab - CPU usage is showing 60%).

I am running Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange in use and Backup Exec for SBS v9.1.
Trend Micro Office Scan is running, but closing it does not help.
Scan-Mail real time scan monitor is installed - but I gather it is part of Trend-Micro's Office Scan.
Office 2003 Pro is installed.
Microsoft's Intelligent Message Filter (IMF Anti-Spam solution) and SpamHaus Block List Service (BLS) are in action.
A Canon Office Colour N1000 is shared off the parallel port.
HP (T700) Power Manager is managing the UPS.

That's all I can think of that could be of relevance - it is a very new server installation.

Server has obviously been rebooted - the high CPU use happens straight away.
