The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Feedback of the Community

Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Having Major Problems With New System Setup

I need the communities help in determining what is is going on with my system.
Here's my setup:

Operating System:  Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
Motherboard:  Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition
Memory:  4096MB Corsair Dominator 8500C5D (1066)
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX 768MB
Sound:  X-fi XtremeMusic
Primary HD:  Western Digital Raptor 73GB - SATA

Here are the various errors I've been getting at random:
- 0x7F
- 0x8E
- 0x101 (A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval)
- while POSTing, my screen all of sudden started flashing with all sorts of colours and vertical lines
- after checking with CPU-Z and AMD OverDrive for info, I see my 9850BE is downgraded to 1253Mhz            
  instead of 2.5Ghz
- during POST, my screen will go blank (can't be the video card since it's works perfectly in other computer. not monitor either as it too works with same card in other computer)

Here are the various things I've tried or know:

- checked Video Card, reseated, reinstalled drivers (worked great in other system)
- reseated Memory
- 3 times cleaned and reapplied Arctic Silver thermal paste to be sure it wasn't overheating (43 C idle - 50                                              
  C load)
- reset the BIOS at default, even lowered the memory speed to 800Mhz
- uninstalled AMD OverDrive, reinstalled it
- will do Memtest86 to determine if memory is faulty


So, guys, I would really like some support as I've spent $1500 on the parts and this is my first system build. I don't know if this a motherboard issue, memory or the CPU or a combination of these.

P.S. I've added a picture of AMD OverDrive which shows Core 2 & 3 as being lower than the others. I've not changed anything within BIOS. I was not getting this before.Start Free Trial
