problem with cpu?

Hello!!
    I have a system witch includes a 478 socket p4 prossecor , 2 GB RAM , 2 X 80 gb hds. The system suddenly didn't start .I think that only the power supply was working.I opened the case and i look for a viewable problem.I didn' find any!!. I changed the ram but didn't work.Then i  cleared cmos with the onboard jumpers.Suddenly the system came back to life and was working fine.Today when i tried to open it,the same happened again.NO SIGN OF LIFE from my pc.I thing that if i do the same procedure will work again.So i'm waiting for solutions,what to check and what to look for.
