Two cores means two processors on a single chip - it's like having two cpus in the space of one. The Solo only has one core, so in certain cases it will be roughly half as fast as the Duo. Visual Studio will benefit from a Duo, but it will work fine with a Solo if you don't do use that all the time. Whether it is worth it depends on how much the price difference is and whether that price difference is important to you. I don't know your financial status.
It is really not about the financial status , but in our maket here in kuwait Just has one modol Solo one. and becuase
1) battery life - 8 hours
2) Thin laptop- 1.6 KG
3) Very good memory - ddr3
My question , the overall speed of laptop (cpu , ram , cashe, ,,) , is it true 2 speed for just def in cpu specificaiton.
The core2 duo may be twice as fast as the core2 solo, but only for certain applications. If the application is not easily broken down into parallel tasks, it won't benefit.
The solo versus the atom is no contest - the atom is designed to be energy efficient and inexpensive and is nowhere near as fast as the core2 solo.
The Atom N270 is a single core, but is hyperthreading: http://ark.intel.com/Produ

They are both mobile 1.4GHz 3MB cache 45nm Core2 processors, except the SU9400 has two cores versus the SU3500 single core, so I would expect the SU9400 to be a little less than twice as fast at tasks where applications are able to use multiple cores (Photoshop, video and audio compression, for example). The SU9400 is the same as a U9400, which scores 934 in Passmark: http://www.cpubenchmark.ne t/cpu_list .php
