Browse All TopicsI have an HP a1132n (XP Home) in the shop. There is a thread called USBPORT.SYS under the SYSTEM process is taking all CPU power. The only way I can temporarily stop it is by suspending it in Process Manager by www.sysinternals.com (back to 100% once restarted). How can I fix this issue? Here's what I've tried:
Malware Check (clean).
Removed all USB related devices from machine.
Removed all unneeded devices from machine.
Uninstalled USB Device drivers.
Updated BIOS version.
Deleted USBPORT.SYS (comes back instantly)
Created read-only 0KB USBPORT.SYS and replaced original (comes back instantly)
Any ideas?
Thanks.

for the hdd, you can try this : http://www.dposoft.net/
you can also run from a live Knoppix cd : ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/d
if that runs fine, your hardware is ok; if not it can give more info on the bad device !
