I have a Dell Dimension 4700 - ST#4CG4J71 that has a Pentium 4 80547 Prescott DT 3.2GHZ processor in it.
In Windows XP SP3 when I right-click My Computer > Properties > General Tab > it says "Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.2GHz, 3.19GHz" Also when I go to Accessories > System Tools > System Information > it says "Number of Processors : 2"
Why is that? I thought this was only a single processor?

There's still something called hyperthreading http://en.wikipedia.org/wi ki/Hyper-t hreading which makes it look as if there are two processors. The Prescott is hyperthreading-capable.
