The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Getting to the bottom if this - CPU Speed, Cores, and Cache

Asked by zm15 in Computer CPU Processors, General Laptop, Hardware Components

Here is a question for all those processor experts out there.

I will lay this out is a simple easy way that will answer most questions hopefully. This are the applications i use almost everyday.
Adobe After Effects and Premiere
Cinema 4D
Adobe Flash
Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Firefox with 10+ tabs open
Multiple Programs running: i.e. rendering in After Effects and working with vector graphics in Illustrator

Trying to get to the bottom of the myths on this one.
Looking at the new core i7 laptops coming out soon, and the specs look very nice. Price however...who knows, get to that in a moment. Seeing the applications that i use, and since the new core i7's will have up to 8mb of L3 cache, will i see a significant performance increase in those programs?

Otherwise, i would just go with a Core 2 Duo T9600.
I have to be thinking ahead for future releases from Adobe, such as CS5, and other software that will take advantage of 2 cores.

Where is the most improvement seen, cache size? clock speed? how many cores?
and does hyperthreading really make a difference?

I realize that the program running really has the most to do with it, but i'm confident that more of them are on their way.

Thanks!
