the black edition has an unlocked multiplier, in laymans terms the actual processor speed can be altered to make it faster. The black editions are best for overclocking systems. However due to these being able to run at a higher speed they are NOT supplied with a standard heatsink and fan you will need to buy one yourself.
The normal athlons (non black editions) have there multiplier locked and cannot be altered, but if it is a retail version you do recieve a heatsink and fan in the box with it.
So to answer your question which is better, really there is no definate answer. It depends what you want your computer to do, but the black edition does offer that flexability if you wish to overclock your system.

They're very close in performance, but the X2 240 slightly outperforms the 7750.
The X2 240 scores 1600 on PassMark's CPUMark (an excellent measure of CPU "horsepower"). The X2 7750 scores 1513.
