Install Second Processor on HP DL360 g5

I have added a second processor to our DL360 G5.  We installed the exact same processor as the original processor.  We used the Part numbers off HP's website to ensure we purchased the right one.  Once installed the server will not boot, not even to the bios.  I just get an error on the front of the server showing both processors errored.  If I remove the new processor the system will boot up.  Am I missing a setting somewhere that is preventing me from adding the second processor?  I updated the bios to the most recent version before installing, and verified that there were no setting changes that were needed in the Bios.

Yeah, we updated all Firmware, Rom, and Bios to the current version avilable on HP before installing the second proc.  I found something where I may need a secon Processor Power module, however I can't seem to find this product on HP's website.
Oh..yes you need a ppm..Should come in the kit
Unfortunately it did not.  Now i can seem to find the Part Number for the PPM.  Any ideas on where to look?  I tried finding it on partsurfer.hp.com, but the ppm doesn't seem to be listed.
can you get the part number of the ppm that is installed?
Since this is a built in ppm I can't seem to find a Part number.  I clicked on your link and it took me to a search page.  i tried searching by our P/N fromt he server, then selecting processors category, but no luck.
OK.  Spent 1.5 hours with HP the other Day.  They said this model does not require a second PPM.  They are thinking the processors are not identical.  Today we just booted the original, and got a spec listing using Intel's Processor ID software.  We then booted the second processor, all from slot 1, and got a spec sheet on it.  They are the same exact processor.  We also tried just booting from the second processor slot.  We get an error stating you can't boot from the second slot.  This shows that the system can see the processor in slot 2, which means we don't have a bad slot.  Any other suggestions on what we can try to get this processor working?
Sorry.  was away for the weekend.  It booted from the new processor in slot 1?
yep.  It booted just fine actually.  I ran the INtel Product ID software and got reports off of each processor.  It appears that they are the same processor.  The only difference is the stepping values. the new one has a 7 and the old one has a b.  I don't really know what that means.
just for fun try this..put the new processor in slot 0 and the old one in slot 1
Tried that, same thing.  It doesn't boot.  It is like it is a mismatch, but everything says it matches, and there should be no issue.  Of course Hp hasn't really been much of any help.  They keep telling me it is a processor mismatch, but they say the part I ordered was correct.  They are starting to think slot 2 is bad, but when I put a processor in and boot it, it reads that there is no processor in slot one, and reads that it is in slot 2.  It then tells me you can't boot with a  processor in slot 2 but not slot 1.
slots are labeled 0 and 1 right?
I think they are labeled 1 and 2. During the boot process it refers to processor 1 in slot 1.
And boots fine with new processor in slot one...hmmm...
stumper here.....Wondering if it is a bad slot 2

You didn't know that dual processor systems require both cpus to be the same model, down to the stepping (which is a revision of the design)?

bnussbaum gave the answer himself: The only difference is the stepping values. the new one has a 7 and the old one has a b.
So those CPUs aren't entirely the same...
Can you check the top of the CPU's and note the sSpec-code? It's a 5-digit code, starting with a S. I guess they'll be different too, meaning they are different models.
