A few days ago, I installed a new modem in my new Quad Core Gateway brand PC and left the side of my tower case off in case (in case I needed to go back in the case).
Last night, my pc rebooted 4 times without warning. The last time I was actually there in front of it. The fan made a sudden loud noise, the light on the power switch went out briefly, then it rebooted.
In the event log, there were multiple references to event 102 "power event". Each time, it did a VSS about 15 minutes before the reboot.
Interesting: 3 of the reboots overnight were exactly 1 hour apart (down to the minute).
I'm wondering if maybe the case being open is prevent the mobo from being cooled correctly as designed.
Maybe, the disk activity is heating things up and then it reboots?
I went into the bios and got the following readings.
Question: Do these look normal (within range?):
Case Open Temps:
CPU 42
Mobo 35.6
ICH 78.85
MCH 66
Voltage:
+12 = 12.195
+5 = 5.218
+3.3 = 3.351
CPU/UCCP 1.265
CPU Fan: 1279
Case Fan In: 0 (I don't believe there is an intake fan)
Case Fan out: 1639
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike
