The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I want to add memory to this system and I am concerned with compatibility

I have a Intel D850GB motherboard and I have 2 sticks of Samsung 128mb memory (with the tag "korea 0110 128mb/8ecc" next line "MR18R0828AN1-CK8  800-45  100"  and currently I have 2 placeholders in the other 2 slots, I am looking to add 2 sticks of 256 to this system to make is more useable as a testing system.  the long and the short is that I am looking at some memory that says "KINGSTON 512MB 2 x 256MB PC800 45ns NonECC Non-ECC RDRAM" can I add that?? or for that matter can someone tell me what I need to be looking for so that there isn't a compatibility issue.  do both sets have to be EEC or non EEC (I think they have to match) and if i see memory with 40ns or 45ns can those be mixed (I understand it would downclock to the slower speed.) My main concern is that I haven't dealt with RIMMs before and I starting to gather that they are finiky(sp?) So, can you mix different amounts of memory? do the NS have to be the same? do they both have to be EEC or NON EEC(i think so)? I do think that they have to be the same speed (i.e. the 800mhz) and if anyone has any other info I should know before I make a purchase, it would be appriciated.Start Free Trial
