The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution

  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Choosing RAM for Averatec 6100 Series 6130HS-20

Should this RAM:
Centon 1024MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz SODIMM (2 modules)

work in this laptop:
Averatec 6100 Series 6130HS-20 (2 slots)
Chipset: SiS 648
FSB: 199MHz

Bought 2, installed, many (700) MemTest errors (tests 5 & 8). Boots (XP SP3) and crashes. MemTest and BIOS see 2048MB.

From Averatec's user manual: (http://www.averatec.com/docs/6100_Series_Manual.pdf)
"The DIMM can be 128MB, 256MB, 512MB or 1024MB in capacity. The DIMM is of type DDR SDRAM, has 200 pins and runs on 2.5V. The DIMM should be PC2100 or PC2700 compliant."
