Dell Dimension 2350 says max ram 1 GB but it takes 2GB, can I run that?

I have a Dell Dimension 2350 I am working on right now.  It came with 256 MB of Ram.  according to Crucual.com and a few other results that a Google search turned up, it will only take 512 MB per slot for a total of 1 GB of Ram.  However, I don't have any 512 MB Dimm's in stock, but I do have 1 GB dimm's in stock that fit this machine.  For the fun of it I tried loading up 1 GB in one of the slots and it runs just fine.  I'm typing this message from this machine now.

Is there any harm in running it if the motherboard recognizes it and Windows XP does as well?  This is a relatively important machine to the client, but the also want it back today as well.

Thanks in advance!  I'm on-site now so 500 points to the quickest (correct) reply!

If the machine sees it then you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks for the quick response!  So much for the Crucial memory tool!  If it wasn't for the fact I didn't have any in stock, I would have only put 1 GB on here!  2 GB is a big jump from the 256 it had!
