The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Is the PCIe x16 slot only for graphic cards as manual says?

I own a M2NPV-VM that has two PCI Express slots x1 and x16.
The manual of this motherboard at http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2NPV-VM/e2806_m2npv-vm.pdf on page 35 under the title "PCI Express x1 slot" states:
"This motherboard supports PCI Express x1 network cards, SCSI cards and other cards that comply with the PCI Express specifications."
Under the title "PCI Express x16 slots" states:
"This motherboard has supports PCI Express x16 graphic cards that comply with PCI Express specifications."

Now I would buy a PCI Express x4 SATA2 controller to install in the PCI Express x16 slot but I'm worried: is the x16 slot on this motherboard only for graphic cards as for strict interpretation of the manual?
