The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

No Video Signal

Asked by accrain in Computer Motherboards, Miscellaneous Hardware, Hardware Components

I have been working on a computer for roughly a month and can't seem to find a solution no matter what I try. I can't get video signal at all, the monitor light stays yellow and acts like there is no cable plugged in at all. It was working fine for about 7 months and out of nowhere it went out.  So far I have replaced  the motherboard, video card, and processor. I am using a MSI K9N SLI Platinum motherboard with a Nvidia GeForce 7900GTX video card. I thought that it was the video card initially but replacing it did nothing. Replaced the motherboard, also did nothing. Replaced the CPU with no success. Thought that maybe since I was using the old CPU (possibly bad at the time) in the replacement motherboard that it caused the replacement to go out as well so I got another new motherboard and tested it with the new CPU; still nothing. I have two memory sticks that I have tried seperately and can't get video with either one of them in the DIMM, Corsair CM2X1024-6400 is the model. The video card has a 6-pin power jack on the back of it, maybe the PSU had gone bad so I replaced the PSU, STILL nothing. Needless to say the only hardware that is from the original computer is the memory. I have reset the BIOS several times. Checked all the jumper settings. I have not been able to get a video singal once no matter what I try and Im losing my mind. Any help is much appreciated thank you.Start Free Trial
