swaped motherboard and power supply/ram in dell dimension 3000...power switch is too short and wrong connector....

spent some time today installing a new biostar p4m900-m4 motherboard, creative audiology sound card, galaxy geforce 8600GT sound card and antec 430W power supply unit.  after installing everything i noticed that the USB cable from the front control panel is too short to make it to the appropriate connector.  more importantly however, the power switch cable (LEDs too) is too short and the connector type is non-compatible with the 16-pin socket on the new biostar board.

i did short the on/off switch with a screwdriver which DID turn my system ON but then after a couple of minutes it shut off automatically.  when i had it turned on i was unable to get the dell monitor to work also.

my question is two-fold...  how can i keep the dell case and have a power/LED switch to the existing case???  i'll need a longer cable and a 16-pin connector.  the dell has a 9-pin connector for the power/LED etc on the factory board....

once i sort out the power situation, how can i be sure that the power won't turn off as it did when i shorted it???
