Hard drives failing for no reason and giving "disk read error press cntrl + alt + delete to reboot"

Asked by bwjohnson88 in Computer Motherboards, Miscellaneous Hardware, Computer Hard Drives

I've had this happen twice, and its getting really annoying now.  I am running pretty old socket 478 P4 motherboards.  Today, at work when I tried to simply copy (not even the main hard drive) one hard drive to a new hard drive, the main hard drive failed... ???.... when I took the other two hard drives off the computer and tried to just restart it normally, it gave me a disk read error press cntrl + alt + delete to reboot and it keeps doing that over and over again.. this is the second time this happened.  I highly doubt the hard drives ar crashing, but what is going on?? None of this makes any sense.  Also, now when I go to start the computer and get to the boot priority screen it takes about 5 minutes to go from the "Intel bios screen" just to the boot priority screen.  It just sits on the P4 intel screen for a long time.  Both of these hard drives have very important information on them and I need to get them to work somehow.  Does anyone have any ideas of what to do?  Thanks.Start Free Trial
