I have installed Windows XP Home on a Dell Inspiron 531S which shipped with Windows Vista installed.
I went to Dell support website / driver downloads and selected drivers for 531S Windows XP. I cannot get Sound to work and on Device Manager it shows PCI device with a yellow question mark. The details for "PCI device" are "PCI Bus 0, device 5, function 0. I have gone to Driver Agent website and run a scan..it show bad drivers for PCI Device but no download. I contacted Dell chat support and they said they canniot help me sincve the unit shipped with Vista. ??? The motherboard is an Asus M2N61-AX.
Processor is AMD 4000+ Athlon 64 X 2...I have downloaded and tried various NVidia chipset drivers..helped some to enab le a few devices but I am left with no sound and this PCI device(unknown). How can I determine what sound device I have and what this mysterious "PCI device" is.
