The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. System will not boot

This is the third Intel DP35DPM system board I have used to try to build this system. The first booted for about a week, then refused to start. All the lights and fans start. The DVD drives open. And that is it - nothing on the screen at all.

The replacement boards sent to me by Intel have all refused to start. (None of the replacement boards sent to me were new. All showed signs of having been screwed-down to a case. They obviously were all previously returned to Intel for some reason.)

Troubleshooting steps I have taken with each of the three boards (not necessarily in the order taken):
1. Attempted to boot after replacing these components one at a time:
    a. Replaced Core 2 Quad processor with a Core 2 Duo.
    b. Replaced Kingston KVR800D2N5K2/4G 1Gb 4memory sticks with Kingston KVR667D2N5K2/1G memory.
    c. Replaced e-GeForce 8400GS PCI Xpress video card with a PCI video card.
2. Cleared CMOS by removing battery for in excess of an hour.
3. Updated BIOS with a CD burned with the most current BIOSfile.
4. Removed board and attempted to boot outside of the Antec Sonata case.
5. Attempted to boot with only one stick of RAM and the video card installed on the board.

I have to be overlooking something. What else could be causing this problem? Is it time for incantation and black magic?Start Free Trial
