No Sound after a fresh install of windows XP Pro SP2

Hi,

I've installed Windows XP Pro SP2 on my old motherboard Gigabyte GA-7VM400M-RZ. Downloaded all necessary drivers on Gigabytes website and installed it on the following order...Chipset, Audio, LAN, USB and then VGA and initially disabled the Windows update. But unfortunately got no sound at all. Checked the following obvious cause or warnings ...

1.0 Device Manager - All devices are ok including the sound (VIA drivers or Vinyl Devices are also ok).
2.0 Checked the sound setting and all are correctly configured (No muted settings), Sounce devices are Windows certified.

Then tried following checks...

3.0 Tried running windows media player without problem except thate there's no sound coming out.
4.0 Tried on two different speakers (Logitiech R20 and Z5500) but still no sound.
5.0 Tried with Razer Barracuda Headset and still no sound.
6.0 Downloaded and installed the latest driver from VIA but still no sound.
7.0 Tried installing all available windows updates but still no sound.
8.0 Tried installing a PCI sound card (disabled the Onboard sound in BIOS) and installed its latest corresponding drivers but still no sound coming out.
9.0 Tried reinstalling/reformat and install everything accordingly (Lates Drivers, windows update, all obvious checks, etc...) but unfortunately there's still no sound coming out.

At the moment i already run out of ideas on how to resolve the issue. I was thinking that this might be a mobo problem but unfortunately could not test it with others since i don't have any other motherboard which supports the CPU that i'm currently using.

Hence, any suggestion or better yet proven solution on my dilemna will be very much appreciated. And also, is there any tool or way that you could test a motherboard if all necessary components are working without resorting to a different mobo test?

Cheers,
