The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Occasional "Warning! Now system is in safe mode" during Bios startup

Asked by a_anis3000 in Computer Motherboards, Computer CPU Processors, Computer Fans and Cooling

I occasionally get a "Warning! Now system is in safe mode. Please reset CPU Or Memory Frequency in the CMOS setup" right after the harrdrive detection stage (see attached picture 1) also sometimes the bios stop responding after the "Device Listing" screen (see picture 2) instead of being normally followed by the "Verifying DMI pool" message which is a bit more frequent than the first problem. In the event of either all I would have to do is just hit the reset button and everything would boot normally all the way to Windows.

Overall the issue is not too often however I wish to investigate for potential hardware problems while they are still under warranty. I double checked the following components

Overclocking: all components are running at stock speed I never overclock as a matter of fact

CPU: I don't believe there are any stability problems since in playing various stressful games the crashes were rare, additionally I had this problem with my previous Core 2 Duo E6420 which still persist after changing it with the E8400 further suggesting CPU defects are unlikely

Ram: I left the "Memory Diagnostic Tool" that comes with Vista which is similar to memtest86 running overnight with no error reported. So Ram should be intact

Motherboard (XFX Nforce 650 Ultra) http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/products/motherboards/6series/650.aspx
This is the hardest part to tell. The best thing I could think of is changing the battery which didn't make a difference. In terms of faulty capacitors the motherboards is fairly new (9 month old) and the problem started to show up around the 5th month or so, so I don't think the capacitors might have started to decay, still I visually inspected the motherboard for any leaking or bulging capacitors with none found so far.

Any ideas where to further narrow down the problem would be appreciated. I would like to note that the frequency of the problem increased a bit this summer, so was wondering if the problem is a simple case of summer heat issue particularly in term of CPU temperature which I discussed in this previous EE thread below

Thanks in advance
