I bought an Alienware laptop used, and it worked great, but now it asks for the bios password. I tried going into bios, and I tried pressing F12, but it still comes up.
I tried removing the main battery, bios battery, and ac power for 1 whole week, but the password is still there. I removed the motherboard, and saw on the underside it said J*** can't remember, and there where 2 solder marks, so I used a straight screwdriver hoping that would help, but no luck.
Look at this thread:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Misc/Q_23309529.html That guy had the same issue, but his laptop was fixed by the manufacture. Mine was under warranty, but alienware don't honor the warranties. All the guy on the phone said was he couldn't help me and to try the bios battery, but that didn't work.
I bought about 5-6 alienware laptops, and if this is how they are going to treat me then as far as I know they don't exist. I wish somebody would sue them, cause that would be a very easy lawsuit.
Anyway, I ordered a 25 pin printer port thing that is supposed to bypass the bios password, but my laptop don't have a printer port so I bought a usb to 25pin printer port which I didn't receive yet, and I am really hoping that works.
My motherboard is the same as the one in the tread specified above which is the:
Hannstar J MV-4
which is a clevo board.
I don't want unnesseccary information that don't belong here like who manufactured the board and all of that cause I mentioned that. All I want to know is how to bypass the password, or the master password, or something.
