Audio does not work, drivers fail to install and unsinstall

I have an Asrock 4core1600p35-wifi mobo and the audio hasn't functioned since i put the computer together. When i tried to install the realtek drivers from the mobo cd it said that audi driver failed to install and then exited out of the installer. When i tried to install updated ones from online id get the same message. When i try to uninstall the 'existing' drivers, it fails and it says that i may need these drivers to start windows which i fail to believe. Is there anything else I can do to get this to work or is the audio dead?Start Free Trial
