Browse All TopicsHi,
My Acer TravelMate 250 will not start up. The power light is on, but battery light is switched off completely.
I have changed the power adapter recently to AC/DC Trust Adapter with AC input: 100~240V (50-60Hz) and DC output: 20V[6A] exactly as my previous one. It worked for about a day and then the battery stop charging completely. I thought it might be a battery problem, so off I went and purchased exactly the same, but new Acer TravelMateLC Li-Ion Laptop Battery (BTP-58A1 with 14.8 voltage and 4400mAh capacity) which arrived today. When I connected the battery and switched on the laptop, I get a black screen and beeping noise for few seconds, then it turns itself off completely.
Any ideas what it could be? I have tried the adapter on another laptop and it seem to be working fine.

I am back to the same problem. ;o(
Battery has been replaced again and when I switched on the laptop, I get a black screen and beeping noise for few seconds again, as previously explained.
I've tired disconnecting the battery and then booting up the laptop. It work fine.
Then I connected the battery again, hoping it would start charging itself, but my power meter is crossed over and the battery status is - discharging, critical.
Anyone has any idea what seems to be a problem and how can I fix this?

Aha!!!
I have taken out the battery and switched on computer. It is booting up from mains with no problem at all :o) I thought it must have been a fault with the new battery, so I've called the supplier. They suggested to plug in the battery (now that the computer is on) and leave it for a while. The battery light is still off and power meter is crossed off, so I doubt anything will happen, but fingers crossed.
Does anyone know if this would, in any shape or form, affect the laptop performance? If it does, what is the worst scenario?
Cheers,
Lana
