Finding driver(s) for one remaining Unknown Device

My Lenovo M57p came with Vista pre-installed and when I rolled it back to WinXP I had to go through the usual process of finding all the drivers and installing them.

However one of the devices still remains an "Unknown Device" in the device manager. The details are as follows;

Device Type: Other Devices
Manufacturer: Unknown
Location: on Intel ICH9D0 LPC Interface Controller
Device Instance Id: ACPI\WEC1000\1

Any ideas about how to find the driver will be much appreciated.

Try running a scan from this website -

http://www.driveragent.com

You have to sign up to get the download for the driver, however you might find that the free scan will tell you just what the device is.

ACPI is the Advanced Configuration Power interface - so its likely that its the chipset drivers that are required. Scan the manufactureers site - you may be lucky - then again you might not - many OEMs are not producing Xp drivers for new hardware

ScottRogersGC--Perhaps uninstall the Unknown Device.   And then reboot.  Is any device not working?  Was the Unknown Device reinstalled on reboot, or are all devices now accounted for?

Try this:
Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Information. Click on "components" and highlight "problem devices". Any hardware device with a driver problem will be listed here. Make a note of the PNP Device ID line of the entry. It will contain a Vendor number and a Device number (VEN. . . . DEV. . . .)
both four digits long.
Look up those numbers here:

http://www.pcidatabase.com/index.php

This will tell you the manufacturer and the chip number.

This device is:
winbound trusted platform module 1.2

This device can not be found on http://www.pcidatabase.com/index.php
or installing chipset drivers could not enable this device
simply updating the driver using windows update can enable this driver.
