possible that there's some problem with the memory slot. possible that the gold edges on your ram are dirty. take a clean white paper and wipe the golden edges of your ram modules and put it back on your ram slots and try to power on your pc again.
CAUTION: this process could damage a working ram chip. do at your own risk. still, i've used this method thousands of times and never damage a good chip. take necessary precautions like grounding yourself before touching any naked pcb/chip on ram modules, motherboards, hdd, etc.

The BIOS chip on the mobo has a Phoenix BIOS sticker on it, but the Esys website specs for the mobo state that it has an Award BIOS!
If this is the case then the C1 error code means memory detection error.....which bearing in mind the above, would indicate that the mobo has a major problem.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
