Dear experts,
I planned to use an old desktop PC (from 2005 or 2006) as my secondary computer. It has a Pentium IV 3 Ghz CPU (socket 478), 1.5 gig of RAM (split in2x256MB and 1x1GB Modules), one PATA Hard disk from Hitachi and other usual stuff. Windows XP SP3 is installed.
Now here comes the problem: Suddenly it began to crash every time I boot it. The crash mostly occurs during the Win XP loading screen. Crash means: it restarts automatically, but without success the next time.
I have changed different hardware parts - without lasting sucess. I reinstalled Windows XP after a few major hardware changes. In general, the machine used to install and work well for a while, but then, after some days, it starts exhibiting the crashing problems described above.
I changed the following parts until now: Mainboard (was MSI, now IBM!), RAM (tried plugging in only one of the 3 RAM modules), graphics card (was discrete ATI card, now integrated graphics from IBM board), different HDD... I even switched the power supply once (but then switched back).
I also played a bit around with BIOS settings.
Experts, I really need your help. How can I resolve the issue?
