SiS M671DX+968 processor upgrade

I have an ASUS F70 notebook which comes with the chipset: SiS M671DX+968.  The processor is an Intel T6400.  I'd like to upgrade the process to perhaps a T9600 or a T9800.

I'm having difficulty finding what processors are compatible with the SiS M671DX+968 chipset.

I want to make sure I have a compatible processor before I shell out the money to do an upgrade.

Thanks experts!

Garycase,

Is there a way I can find out what processors the latest BIOS update will support?

Thanks!

Brandon
Unfortunately not -- unless an Asus rep will tell you.    The release notes on their site (under "BIOS history" in the downloads for your system) don't provide any details on exactly what they've changed.

About the best you can do is (a)  update to the latest BIOS; and then (b)  try the CPU you want to use.   The "safest" CPU is a T9550, since it's at least listed as one of the supported CPUs at the site referenced above -- HOWEVER, Asus's page makes no mention of that support, so even that isn't an absolute.    I'd buy any CPU you get from a site that will take returns -- losing a 15% restocking fee is a lot better than having a non-returnable CPU that won't work in your system.
Good advice.  Thanks Garycase.
