Which SATA PCI card? - Part 2

Dear Experts,

I have a DELL GX520 Desktop computer which can take 3 standard PCI cards.  1 low profile and 2 standard PCI cards.

I want to add a second SATA2-300 HDD and am thinking about getting this:

http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=pci+sata+%2B300+-raid+-express+-esata&hl=en&cid=4258020373704403175&sa=title#p

Have I chosen the correct card for my needs?

That card has 2 notches on the part which plugs into the motherboard, but the pci slot on the motherboard only has 1 notch in the slot.  So this means part of the card will not be plugged into the board.  Will it still work?

My motherboard only has 1 sata port and I am not planning on doing any raid config.  Just want another hdd.

First: go for that card, it's cheap enough, and oversized cards fit.

If you ever go to windows 7 64-bit, things can become more complicated.
Not all cards have updated 64-bit drivers. (highpoint seems to be most updated)

If you have vista or Windows-7 you will propably set your bios to ahci to improve disk speed and to support e-sata.  Then you may be interested in a pci-card with an e-sata port.  Have a look at Rocketraid 1740 or 1742.  Too expensive probably but nice to know.

I have the card now.

On the PSU, I only have 1 sata power cable.  Which power cable splitter do I need and which sata cable do I need to connect the hard drive to the sata pci card?

Thanks
