Dell precision T3500 Memory

I ordered About 10 sticks of Dell SNPP9RN2C/8G , These are 8gb PC3-10600 sticks.

Here is a link. ( it is the 1st Type of Ram offered)
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/PfydFeaturedCategoryResults.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&mfgpid=201440&chassisid=8560&stype=2&Tab=

After putting these sticks in a t3500 I was receiving "non optimal ram config" error (the bios see's the 8gb stick). I could not get rid of this so I tried to only put the 8gb stick in. This caused the pc to not boot at all.

After looking up some stuff I found the tech manual for the t3500. Reading this I found out the t3500 only supports up to a 4gb stick per slot. Then I thought why would dell make this the 1st option when you go to purchase upgrades for a t3500. Also, On the web page for the the RAM, The 1st table does not show the t3500 listed for compatibility. However, The list lower on the page does. ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A6353143&mfgpid=201440&chassisid=8560 )

Now after all this I Find BIOS update A11 says this under "fixed & enhancements" "Enhanced the memory map algorithm for 128GB configuration" . After installing the latest BIOS update (A17) and trying the ram again, Only putting the 8gb stick in , I still dont boot.( http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=J7N1X&fileId=2964784371 )

Does A17 not contain this memory change? Why would dell offer this ram for the t3500? Or am I just missing something?

I suspect Dell has made a mistake.  Here https://www.dell.com/downloads/emea/edb/Dell_Precision_T3500_Technical_Guide.pdf the manual states only a maximum of 4 Gb modules can be used.

Crucial http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Dell-memory/Precision+WorkStation/Precision+Workstation+T3500-upgrades.html also states only 4 Gb modules.

I can find other online specifications for this board and they all state 24 Gb through 4 Gb modules.

The BIOS update is strange and I can't understand why they seem to imply 128 Gb.

It might pay to ask the question on Dell's own forums.
i suppose you tried other sticks, not only 1 ?

clould be a bad one...

I have tried 5 stick out of the 10 I have, on three different t3500's.

After some more testing. Like I said, If I add the 8gb stick to a t3500 that has a working Ram config. The bios can see the 8gb stick and I get the "un optimized" error and windows only uses half of my ram.

If I use only the 8gb sticks I get a "no module found" error on my front lights, and what I believe is a 1-3-2 (1st 64 K RAM test in progress or failure)

Before the 8gb stick.

Dimm1: 4gb pc10600 ECC 1333mhz (HMT351U7CFR8A-H9 )
Dimm2: 4gb pc10600 ECC 1333mhz (HMT351U7CFR8A-H9 )
Dimm3: 2gb pc10600 ECC 1333mhz (M391B5673FH0-CH9  )
Dimm4: 2gb pc10600 ECC 1333mhz (HMT325U6CFR8C-H9 )

If I put the 8gb stick in slot 5, The bios will see an 8gb stick, but then the bios errors and windows says (6gb usable)

What did I say to confuse you? I am concerned about using 8gb sticks in a t3500. I listed the ram that is currently in the test machine, and what happens when I add the 8gb.
sorry - i looked at the wrong one.
it is starting to look like a Dell error, i would contact them with it .
