Hi I have a HP Pavilion dv6325us with conexant high definition audio drivers and windows XP pro. The problem is when I am talking to someone they can hear everything that comes out of my speakers instead of just the microphone. I thought the problem was the recording device was set to wave out but I checked it and it was set to microphone. I have this problem on XP pro and vista home premuim.

Well i'm not surprised as the mic will transmit all sounds captured by the mic. If you are playing music in the background, the other party will be able to listen to it unless you are far away which i doubt.
Other method is to get another head/speaker set and try with your current system, might be faulty hardware.

Are you talking about the microphones in the webcam? Does this webcam come with the Laptop?
If you are just in a video conference like Yahoo Messenger or something, there should be some muting and nulling when in conference, and muting of the speakers when recording so as not to get a feedback loop or echo, which may be what you are describing.
There may be some internal settings. I'd definately disable 'recording' during conferencing.
But there's also a lot of hate-mail on this one all over the Net so I'd be talking to HP.
If you are experiencing this (feedback loop), as you said, with a headset/mic, then using a headset/mic should disable the built-in microphones in the webcam (if the thing was designed correctly) -- if not see if you can find a setting to turn off (or mute) the webcam microphone when using the headset -- and this should give you the required isolation between the microphone (now in the headset) and the speakers.

> hello Litcatp, check first the device manager for your sound card if it is correctly installed all the drivers needed and no conflict happens. Next make play around for the sound properties. also don't forget to be sure that your microphone was really ok and working, and the mic port some of default was pink and the output sound was green.
