Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI just bought an Acer Aspire 3680 notebook that ran Windows Vista. I formatted the disk and installed Windows XP SP2 and updated. I am having a problem with the audio. The sound is a Realtek High Definition Audio.
The problem is that although the internal speakers work fine, when i plug in headphones into the headphone jack, which is labeled SPDIF, it gets sound for a few seconds, and then it is gone. And i cannot figure out how to mute the internal speakers of the notebok without muting hte headphones too.
Any suggestions? is it a software or hardware problem?

punky: i'm not sure what you want me to check on the link you posted. it seems like the things you clicked on that applet or whatever it is.. weren't saved in the actual web address, so i just got the page that asks me to choose what i want to view drivers for. could you be more specific as to what you were looking at? thanks
f-king: yes i'm pretty sure its the right jack, it has a headphone symbol on it, and right below it says SPDIF.( i think the audio output for speakers and headphones is usually the same one anyway.)
hey, thanks for the help everyone. i went to the acer drivers site that punky pointed out, and even though i didn't know what line 49 was, i looked around at the drivers, and found one that said audio driver, and one that said realitek hi def audio driver. i knew i had the realtek one, so i got the installed the audio driver and now it works... (so far). i looked on other forums, and supposedly this problem is recurring, so i dont know if the solution is permanent.
thanks for the help again
