The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

What are the specs of the computer this is running in? Also what bios revision. Is everything up to date as far as versions. what is this computer being used as and what are the the components being connected with this system?

05.15.2008 at 07:19PM PDT, ID: 21579445
The system is running windows xp home edtion sp3. This system is used as a basic family computer. The mainboard is manufacted by ECS-ELITEGROUP, modle 761GX-M754 which has intergrated sound. The Processor is an AMD 1800 Mhz, the bios verison date is  12/14/05, memory is ddr 256megs. I'm using 2 rear stero speakers and a printer.

before updating bios read very carefully how to do so many articles on how to. you can also ask me to walk you through. Also read rest of post before doing this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you know how to update your bios I would do so. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=560&DetailName=New&DetailDesc=761GX-M754%20%20(V1.0)&CategoryID=1&MenuID=82&LanID=0
I believe that is correct link. If not you can Google your board and it will take you to the site where you can update it using a series of drop down menus to get the mobo correct.  Are you saying two rear stereo speakers? like you have a 5.1 system set up?  or a 4.1 system? what are the stereo speakers? Do they have an amp built in? also have you checked all your sound settings? I know its easy but sometimes the easy stuff is the hardest to trouble shoot as many times I have stepped over the simple solution. Are you using the onboard video as well?

05.15.2008 at 08:50PM PDT, ID: 21579866
WOW I forgot what os are you using. See thats what I was talking about stepping over little stuff.  Also what are you using to test sound? also did you build this system? Also have you checked drivers? what are they etc?

05.15.2008 at 09:05PM PDT, ID: 21579912
ROFL (rolling on floor laughing) I am sorry I asked what os you were running and you had already stated it. I have been studying a ton for finals and have been kind of tired I am trying to build my expert points back up to what they used to be before i quit my job at the university which I used this site all the time for. I promise I will do all in my power to resolve this issue for you as I have had issues similar to this and know how frustrating this can be. IE my video card has audio output and you have to disable it to get the rest to work then renable it for hdmi audio.  Also for front connector do you mean in the front of the box? Or do you mean that it has connectors for front speakers and rear and maybe a sub? also does it have a center channel output line then? I have been looking online and don't see any pics of the board that show the rear panel!

The o\s is windows xp home sp3, all the drivers are installed, yes I build the system.I'm using a set of desktop speakers to test the system. The sound drivers are sound max intergrated digital audio. Please be aware that the sound works at the front plug but not at the rear audio plug.

05.15.2008 at 09:17PM PDT, ID: 21579960
Jordanorg , no need to appoligise I appreciate your efforts and willingness to assist me with this situation . No worries! Front audio means the port on the front of the box. There is no center output line. Do you know if the mainboard front audio header should have jumper pins installed?

05.15.2008 at 09:26PM PDT, ID: 21579993
See I'm tired also, I'm spelling challanged. I ment apologize

i doubt a bios upgrade would help here
that said, since you have sound on the front  plug (with the same speakers ?) and none on the back, i suggest to check if they are inserted in the correct output (green)
if so, i fear you may have a bad contact in the plug; you can inspect it or try to clean it....

05.16.2008 at 09:21AM PDT, ID: 21584119
Not sure about the config since its ac 97 it should be explained at this link. If you have sound in front you probably have something on this?? http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-015851.htm
Have you checked the device manager? anything there? right click on my computer go to bottom of drop down select properties > select hardware tab > click device manager > select  sound video and game controllers. Also what revision of soundmax are you using? I believe most current is 5.2. Also check in preferences if you have auto detect on?  there should be a pink a green and a blue. make sure as stated above its in the green.  have you manually configured any of the the audio properties? have you defaulted the audio settings?

glad I could help you! :) I hope you didn't have to do too much searching on the Intel site. Thanks for the points and the great grade!
