Odd question of my sound card

Hi ,
I have a very stange problem of my audio setting ,
that is "Microphone Boost".
I have use the same computer and same external microphone,
sometimes , if I turn on the "Microphone boost" , I get lots of background noise and I have to turn it off
but sometime , I cannot hear myself if I turned it off, and I have to turned it on.

that make me crazy and I have no idea what is the problem

My system is XP Pro SP3. and all the time it works, but sometime I need turn it on and sometime I have to turn it offStart Free Trial
