Dell Inspiron 1525 Microphone not working

Hello Experts

I have downgraded from Vista to XP on my dell laptop. I dont know whether I had this problem on Vista earlier, but since I have XP on this I have figured that the microphone does not work.

Please can someone advise how can I go about fixing this?

1) In the volume window the mic volume is not in mute
2) Is that your microphone is working ? ( if possible test with another system)
3) Check you have any yellow color icon present in the Device Manger

thanks for your input, yes i have tried all the above ...

1) In the volume window the mic volume is not in mute
no its not in mute
2) Is that your microphone is working ? ( if possible test with another system)
yes it works on my PC
3) Check you have any yellow color icon present in the Device Manger
no yellow color icon on any ..
