NO SOUND DEVICES

Hi,
I am having aproblem with my sound devices in my computer. I am not able to play any audios or videos. in the sounds and audio devices properties i am getting " No Audio Devices" " No Playback Devices" " No MIDI playback devices. All these are grayed out as well. I have followed the answers for a similar type of problem in the following link but nothing worked.

i have dual OS installed on my PC. In the other OS every thing is working fine. so there must not be any problem with my hardware devices. i have reinstalled the sound drivers succesfully but of no use. please help
