XP (Boot Camp) audio not working if muted on shutdown

I noticed that on my new MacBook, if I shut down Windows XP (running on Boot Camp) with the sound muted, then when I startup again, the audio is not working even after I uncheck mute. The audio will stay silent until I reboot unmuted. I am using Windows XP Pro SP3, Boot Camp drivers found on the Mac OS X Install Disc, and have installed Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP.

A colleague of mine who has exactly the same model of MacBook has noticed the same issue. Is this a common issue, and is there a fix for it?Start Free Trial
