I have just put together an HTPC with the following configuration:
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2h Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6 GHz processor
4 GB OCZ Gold DDR3 1066
I am using the onboard Realtek ALC889A audio, output through S/PDIF optical cable to a Denon reciever.
Nothing I do can get me surround sound. The receiver outputs 5.1 sound from my Comcast cable box, and Phillips DVD player through optical.
When running the speaker test in Windows Media Center it plays all test tones through the front speakers. The front and rear test tones come out of the respective front speaker. Ie., LF/LR - Both come out of LF speaker.
I have downloaded the latest drivers, played with all the settings, what am I missing?
