Nvidia GeForce 8400 upgrade on OptiPlex 755

Hello,

I have an OptiPlex 755 Desktop form factor with 3.0 ghz dual core processor 1 gig ram and 280w power supply. I recently bought a new video card because the inboard Intel video card could not support a new game I bought. The card is a PNY Verto with an Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS chipset. I installed it in the PCI express slot and turned the computer on while the monitor was connected to the new card and I got no video. I had to return the video to the inboard to get to the CMOS (I believe that is what it is called). I chose the onboard/card option instead of the auto selection in the video section of the system config but the system still does not recognize the new card. It wont even show up on windows. I know that this new card says it requires a 300w power supply but I have heard that Dell underrates their power supply's and is really a lot more than they are rated. Why is my computer not recognizing the card?Start Free Trial
