Laptop to project and display at the same time

I had to reinstall everything on my Latitude laptop, when I am trying to use a projector to  do a PowerPoint presentation it either only displays on the laptop screen or projects to the projector not both.  I am thinking there might be a driver I need to install as when I go into the display settings I am not seeing a display display option or "presenter" mode.  Any ideas?
