Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a custom built built computer with an Aopen AX4PER motherboard that i am working on. It came in because when you open an e-mail the text was not viewable. It doesn't show text in Family Tree Maker notes either. I tried opening the cd rom drive to install spyware software but it will not open. I went check device manager it recognizes it as says it is working. As i scrolled down the page the Pentium 4 2.4GHz processor driver is missing or corrupt along with the Microsoft System Management Bios driver. I cant even reformat because the cd- drive will not open.

Missing info, cd drive not accessable, Pentium 4 2.4GHz processor driver is missing or corrupt along with the Microsoft System Management Bios driver.
Is the hard drive IDE or SATA?
If both the hard drive and CD drive are IDE I would suspect the motherboard controller. As for the inability to access the emails and other docs, that sounds like Hard drive corruption possibly from a faulty controller as well.
Do you have an external USB drive to pull the files onto, or even forward an email to another computer to see if it will open it.

Could be a faulty CD drive. See if it will open when PC is rebooted and before Windows loads. That will bypass any OS locks.
You can also use the emergency eject. Straighten a large paper clip and insert in small hole on drive faceplate. It's usually just under drive tray.
